PANJIM: Defending champions Herald went down fighting to Tarun Bharat by 16 runs in the final of the Late Vijay Gad Inter-Media Cricket tournament, organized by Sports Journalists Association of Goa (SJAG) in collaboration with Goa Cricket Association, at SAG ground, Campal, here, Friday.
Herald won the toss and elected to field first as Tarun Bharat posted 85 for 2 wickets in 10 overs. In reply, Herald managed 69 for 9 wickets in 10 overs.
Chetan Desai, President of Goa Cricket Association was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Rajesh Gad, son of late Vijay Gad; former captain of the Goa Ranji cricket team, Prashant Kakode and Sharad Naik, advisor of SJAG.
Manguesh Borkar, Treasure of SJAG welcomed while Kishor Petkar, Secretary of SJAG proposed the vote of thanks.
Individual prizes were awarded to Best Batsman: Shailesh Zantye (Herald), Best Bowler: Lakshraj Shetye (Prudent Media), Best Fielder: Saish Kerkar (Prudent Media), Best All Rounder: Anil Bandiwadekar (Tarun Bharat), Man-of-the-Final: Rajaram Bhat (Tarun Bharat), Man-of-the-Series: Anil Bandiwadekar (Tarun Bharat)
