The first novena of Our Lady of Good Health also known as Our Lady of Valankanni began on Monday with the hoisting of the ‘Maddi.’ The 11-day festival commenced with a flag procession followed by the blessing and hoisting of Our Lady’s Flag by the Bishop of Thanjavur Diocese Rev. M Devadass Ambrose. A large number of pilgrims from the world over thronged the Basilica.
The feast will take place on September 8 after two years, owning to Covid.
