MARGAO: After a long gap of several years, a meeting was held with the tiatr directors by the officials of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, to hear their grievances. Many tiatrists had earlier expressed their grievances publicly since there was no such opportunity.
Newly appointed Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan Rajendra Talak, gave a patient hearing to all the tiatr directors and producers who agreed to join hands in making the place public-friendly. Agnelo Fernandes, Member Secretary, besides other officials of the Ravindra Bhavan participated in the discussion and assured the tiatr fraternity that their issues will be resolved and they will be treated with respect over here.

It is pertinent to note that tiatr artistes were facing a tough time in presenting their shows at Pai Tiatrist Hall, here, due to issues pertaining to non-functioning of AC, sound system, toilets etc. They had expressed their frustration on the issue in the past.
At the meeting, several topmost tiatr directors namely Roseferns, Prince Jacob, Francis de Tuem, Comedian Richard Colaco, Alison de Curtorim etc voiced their grievances.
Speaking to reporters, Roseferns said that it was a positive meeting, wherein the administration of Ravindra Bhavan had assured to resolve all the issues affecting the tiatr shows.
“Firstly, we must appreciate the efforts to call a meeting and hear our grievances. It was constructive discussion and we have voiced out our problems before the newly appointed chairman,” said senior tiatr director Roseferns.
He further said that their only intention in expressing the frustration was that the Ravindra Bhavan should work properly.
Francis de Tuem also said that he sees hope in newly appointed Chairman Talak, who is also from the theatre field and has the full knowledge of performing arts.
Talak assured to make the Ravindra Bhavan not only artiste but also people friendly.
“All will be welcomed and the premises of this Ravindra Bhavan will be open to all artistes and performers. Problems of tiatr artistes will be resolved at the earliest,” Talak said.
He informed that repair works of the complex will be started very soon. Talak was speaking to reporters, on the sideline of a recent incident wherein a plastic lamp cover of conference hall came crashing down.
