CALANGUTE: Football Club of Siolim trounced Milagres Sports Club 3-0 to move ahead in the Honeybee Friendship Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Candolim Sports Club, at Dr. Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim, Tuesday.
Siolim enjoying a slight edge dictated terms to Milagres and forged ahead in the 15th minute through Selwyn Fernandes off Rajesh Pomburpekar through pass.
Trailing by a goal, Milagres exerted pressure on rival defence but their forwards failed to score.
Changing over, Nikhil Simepuruskar doubled the lead in the 35th minute off Selwyn Fernandes good move. Selwyn consolidated the lead in the 40th minute heading home a Nikhil’s cross.
Down by three goals, Milagres did not give up and came close to scoring on a couple of occasions.
Noel Veigas shot was saved on the goal line by Mayur Toraskar in the 50th minute while Simon Fernandes try hit the goalpost with seconds away for final whistle.
