PANJIM: Controversy reared its ugly head in the State, making social media headlines after the Aldona Primary Health Centre placed a notification in its premises banning the entry of ‘Christian’ preachers from the hospital premises and luring ‘innocent patients’ financially.
However, Directorate of Health Services officials seemed to be taken aback at the news with officials denying that any such circular or directions were issued to any hospital in the State.
According to top health officials a letter was forwarded to them by the government that there was a complaint from an NGO alleging that certain improprieties were going on at hospitals.
As a result, the Directorate of Health Services issued a letter to all its ancillary hospitals asking them to “investigate and submit a report,” which would then be submitted to the government.
According to officials they were not aware under whose authority this circular was sent and the letter was issued as a matter of procedure as is done in cases on any complaints.
According to them an organisation had complained, so they sent the complaint and a letter asking the PHCs to investigate and submit a report as government has asked them to submit a report.
