VASCO: A stray bull went on a rampage and injured three persons in Sancoale on Saturday afternoon. The incident triggered panic among the villagers. With the bull still at large, they fear getting attacked again by the animal.
According to Verna police, they received a wireless message from GMC, Bambolim, that three persons had been admitted to the hospital after they were attacked by a stray bull. The police, while investigating the case, learned that the bull created a ruckus and attacked three persons near Shantadurga School, Sancoale, at around 2 pm.
“The stray bull entered a cow shed of one Merissa D’Souza (53), resident of Sancoale, at around 2 pm, and started attacking another bull, which was tied there. Looking at the stray bull creating a ruckus in her cow shed, D’Souza rushed to the site and attempted to rescue her bull. However, the stray bull grew wilder and started attacking her, after which Merissa raised an alarm. Hearing her shouts, her two neighbours, Alberto Fernandes (55) and Peter Fernandes (58) rushed to her rescue, but in the bargain they sustained serious injuries after the stray bull started charging at everyone who came in its way.
“All three were shifted to GMC, Bambolim. The doctors discharged D’Souza after giving her first aid, while the two seriously injured persons are still undergoing treatment,” police told Herald.
Since the bull is still at large, Verna police have written to the Mormugao deputy collector requesting him to direct the Forest Department officials to visit Sancoale on priority and catch the stray bull before it attacks more people.
