RAIA: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda scored a narrow 1-0 win over Chandor Club to move into the quarter-finals of the 47th All Goa Custodio Memorial football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia panchayat ground, on Tuesday.
Both teams started the match on with forefront moves as Don Bosco striker Ashley Araujo shot over the cross bar in the 7th minute. Three minutes later, Don Bosco’s Francis Andrade long ranger missed the Chandor target by a whisker.
At the other end, Chandor through Leno D’Sa and Darren Fernandes missed chances to score in the 12th and 18th minute respectively as both the moves were foiled by Don Bosco defender Valito Miranda.
It was the Don Bosco striker Clencio Pinto who scored the match winner in the 34th minute with a placement shot off a rebound of the Chandor keeper Presley Mascarenhas.
Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda will now meet Sao Jose De Areal in the quarter-finals on July 8.
