Water deprived locals of Bhamai threaten to boycott ZP polls

PONDA: The villagers of Bhamai-Pale on Wednesday threatened to boycott Zilla Panchayat elections scheduled on March 22, if proper water supply to their areas is not restored by then. 

Aggrieved at the irregular and acute shortage of water supply since past many days, the villagers confronted the PWD assistant and junior engineers at Daag Ponda, on Wednesday morning.

Incidentally, Bhamai-Pale falls under Sanquelim Assembly constituency represented by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.

“Despite coming under the chief minister’s constituency, we are not getting proper water supply since last one year,” the villagers claimed. 

The villagers, including a panch, confronted the officials over the water issue and threatened to boycott the ZP elections scheduled on March 22, if proper water supply to their areas is not restored by then.
