Vaddem attacked from the word go and took the lead in the fifth minute through Clive Fernandes.
Stung by the reverse, Calangute went all out in search of the equalizer but Vaddem defense kept Calangute forwards at bay. Both the teams were reduced to ten-men inside 10 minutes of play following a rough tackle and retaliation.
Changing over, Joaquim Gonsalves surprised the rival keeper with a long ball which entered the net much to the delight of his colleagues and fans.
With both teams on level terms, Vaddem enjoyed a slight edge over their rivals and created couple of scoring opportunities but luck eluded them in front of open goal. The winners were decided on penalties. Calangute kept nerves to romp home winners by 4-2. Joaquim Gonsalves, Pedro Gonsalves, Agnelo Fernandes and Mario Lobo converted for Calangute while Alfex and Melwyn netted for Vaddem.
Carlos De Souza, Director of De Souza Group was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winner in the presence of Domnic D’Souza, pastor from Sodiem-Siolim; Lavinio Rebello, GFA vice-president (North), GFA executive member Patrick D’Souza, ex-member Babli Mandrekar and other dignitaries.
Earlier, club president John Pereira introduced the players and match officials to the chief guest and other dignitaries while Xavier Fernandes, organising secretary compered.
