CALANGUTE: In a tragic incident reported at Baga beach on Sunday morning, a 40-year-old tourist from Satara, Maharashtra died after falling on his head while attempting a somersault.
In a press release, Drishti Marine said at around 11:30 am, a group of eight males were playing along the shore at Baga.
“One of them, Balu Shinde attempted a somersault and fell on his head and was knocked unconscious,” Drishti further stated.
Drishti Lifeguard Eknath rushed to assist and called for backup.
“The victim’s vitals were found to be normal. However, he was having difficulty in breathing. He was administered oxygen by lifeguard Ashwin after putting him in recovery position. Simultaneously, 108 ambulance was called and the victim was taken to Asilo, Mapusa where he breathed his last due to a suspected head/spinal injury,” Drishti Marine said.
