PANJIM: Brazilian Legend Zico will lead the Gaurs for the third season and will aim to carry on his typical football tactics that lead FC Goa to semi-finals and finals in the season 1 and 2 respectively.
Though serving the same club, same people, with same spirit with his samba football style, the Former Brazilian World Cupper will miss the owners with whom he had been working for during the last two years.
Zico thanked and praise the former owners for their professionalism and positive attitude that led to the success of the Goan franchise.
“What FC Goa is today it is all because of what the past owners (Shrinivas and Dattaraj) gave to the club. They stayed with us in the bad as well as the good moments. They always stayed by our side and fulfilled everything they could possibly do,” said the Brazilian legend.
Zico has been very close to the former bosses and revealed the special bond between them “I have their friendship and I cheer their friendship as they were always good to me. I will always keep them in my heart as good memories,” further added Zico. Former Co-owners Shrinivas Dempo and Dattaraj Salgaocar took the decision to exit from the club after the ISL regulatory decision and sold their combined 65 percent stake to new co-owner Jaydev Mody recently.
Having to work under the new owner, Zico expressed his desires to have good moment with Mody.
Zico joined the team late this season as compared to the other gaffers from other clubs, but the Former World Cupper feels that this issue will not affect the team as he believes in hard work and preparations.
“When I came in the first year I didn’t know any one and we reached semifinals, in the second year I signed 15 new faces and we reached the finals and it’s happening with all the teams and sometimes we lose certain players. We are going to prepare ourselves during the pre season and we have time to prepare and do well,” added Zico
