MERCES: The approval of a housing project in a Khazan land at Curca, based on controversial documents, dominated the Curca Gram Sabha on Sunday.
Raising the issue, a resident, Manguesh Kuttikar, sought to know how the panchayat and TCP authorities were passing projects by overlooking such glaring errors.
Armed with documents obtained through RTI, Kuttikar pointed that the project comes in the jurisdiction of Curca village, while the plans submitted for approval show the village as Bambolim.
“If that is not enough, the Conversion Sanad obtained in 1999 has been submitted by the developer for approval of the project in 2008,” Kuttikar informed and sought to know why the authorities had failed to ask for a fresh Conversion Sanad from the developer. “Without change of zone, how come the panchayat approved the project?” he asked.
Kuttikar also highlighted that the developer had failed to take permission from the Forest Department to cut trees in the area.
Kuttikar later urged the panchayat to take necessary action in the matter; while villagers demanded that the panchayat immediately revoke the licences issued to the developer, since the same were obtained through false documents.
Sarpanch Ghansham Vernekar said that he will discuss the issue at the panchayat body meeting and after studying all legal aspects, necessary action will be initiated.
