CALANGUTE: Hosts Saligao United blanked Saligao Sporting Club 2-1 to move into final of Saligao United Cup at Dr Gustavo Monteiro stadium, Candolim, on Wednesday.
Saligao Sporting drew the first blood in the 10th minute with Bibiano Fernandes finding the net beating the rival keeper Soma Korgaonkar after dribbling a couple of Saligao United defenders.
Saligao United fought back and drew level in the 29th minute with Paulo Joao’s header finding the net off Trevor Dias corner evading keeper Jason D’Mello.
Changing over, Saligao United were awarded a penalty as Saligao Sporting defender Andrew brought down Clyde Vales in the danger zone. Paulo Joao scored from the resultant penalty to give his team a 2-1 lead.
