State cabinet clears 378 posts before poll code

PANJIM: The Laxmikant Parsekar government seems to be in great haste to approve posts ahead of the code of conduct for the Zilla Panchayat elections coming into force, with the State cabinet clearing 378 posts in various government departments, granted extensions and issued work orders worth crores of rupees on Friday.

The advertisements are continuously being released in the English and vernacular dailies over the last two days.
Of the total vacancies, majority are in the health department including posts of nurses, pharmacists and lab technicians etc. Vacancies have also been cleared in the Goa Police department in the administrative section, as also in the department of Information and Publicity.
The government also cleared the new Curti-Khandepar bridge, four-laning of Dhavali bypass, three small flyovers and five underpasses totally costing an estimated Rs 312 crore. All these works will be centrally funded as the work orders have 
been issued by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
