PANJIM: All the criminal cases against elected representatives of the Legislative Assembly and Parliament will now be tried before the Special Courts designated by the High Court of Judicature at Bombay.

The High Court has designated Judicial Officers and two courts in South Goa for conducting these cases.
The notification was issued by Registrar General S G Dige states that District Judge — I and Additional Sessions Judge, Margao Edgar Placido Fernandes, and Civil Judge, Senior Division and Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao Saee Anil Prabhudessai will now “try criminal cases against the elected Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly or Members of Legislative Council (past and present), pending before the Court/s of Sessions/Magistrate”.
Several politicians in the State are facing criminal charges before various courts. These cases will now be tried before the special courts and the designated judges.
