FDA raid at Navelim

MARGAO: Officials of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided a wholesale establishment at Navelim and seized sauce bottles of different brands worth Rs 38,000 on grounds that it was of sub-standard quality.

MARGAO: Officials of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided a wholesale establishment at Navelim and seized sauce bottles of different brands worth Rs 38,000 on grounds that it was of sub-standard quality.
The FDA has also ordered closure of the wholesale unit on grounds that it was operating without mandatory permission.
FDA officials led by senior food safety officer Rajiv Korde descended on Navelim Tuesday morning and raided Shantadurga Trade Link. Upon inspection of the premises, the officials seized the sauce bottles since they were of sub-standard quality and had an expiry date.
The entire consignment was later destroyed at the Sonsodo waste dumping site.
Korde tod the media the FDA will seek purchase bills from the owner as well as issue letters to the manufacturers to assess the exact situation.
