PANJIM: As directed, the Directorate of Panchayat has asked concerned panchayats from the mining areas to submit proposals for developmental projects for implementation under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF), the State government told the High Court of Bombay at Goa on Wednesday.
Advocate General Dattaprasad Lawande told the court that directions have been sent to all panchayats to submit proposals and the DMF committee will meet on the issue. The State said it will make a detailed submission before the Court.
Lawande also informed the court that potable water has been supplied to Sonshi villagers, whereas in the case of Pissurlem there are certain shortfalls, which the government is working on.
The High Court earlier this month had directed DMF members to visit mining affected areas and ascertain requirements for projects benefiting people in those belts.
A division bench comprising Justice N M Jamdar and Justice Prithviraj K Chavan had set a time frame of two weeks to file a compliance report on its direction. DMF has Rs 180 crore that has remained unutilised.
