Sao Jose de Areal: Albert Developers Merces Veterans got the better of Fatorda Veterans 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of the 2nd Assolda Veterans football tournament, played at Padribhat, Sao Jose de Areal ground on Wednesday.
Both teams dominated the first half and had early chances to score.
Fatorda’s Mateus Costa’s two attempts were foiled by Andrew Teodisio early in the game.
At the other end, Fatorda defenders Joaquim Fernandes and Joao Crasto thwarted a solo attempt by Ramesh Pakar of Albert in the 9th minute.
Santan Furtado header missed the net of Albert in the tenth minute.
Ramesh Palkar, midfielder of Albert Devbelopers put up a good display and scored the first goal in the 12th minute.
Fatorda’s Remmy Baretto’s long range effort was denied by Albert cross bar in the 15th minute. Francis Colaco doubled the lead with a solo effort before unleashing a powerful shot past the helpless rival keeper. Vincent Barbosa reduced the margin for Fatorda in the 56th minute.
Albert Developer will meet the winners of Curtorim Veterans in the semi-final on April 2.
