PANJIM: Goa Medical College in association with National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi, recently conducted a five-day training programme on prevention and control of vector-borne diseases.
The programme was conducted for district level officers involved with NVBDCP.
Physicians, paediatricians, programme managers and entomologists from Goa and Maharashtra attended the programme organised at a resort in Candolim.
The faculty for the programme involved Prof D D Motghare, Dr Savio Rodrigues, Dr Amit Dias, Vidal D’Souza, Dr Shilpa Joglekar, Dr Ashwani Kumar, Dr Deepak Kabadi from Goa and Dr Rajesh Kumar (NIHFW), Dr Ravi Kumar (NVBDCP, Bangalore), Krishna Rao (WHO) and Dr Asutosh Biswas (AIIMS).
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr V N Jindal, Dean GMC, Dr S Dalvi, Director, DHS and Prof D D Motghare.
The link between unplanned development and vector-borne diseases, the importance of inter-sectoral cooperation and the need to strictly comply with the national drug policy was highlighted.
