PANJIM, JUNE 23
The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Tuesday directed the Village Panchayat of Taleigao and the Planning and Development Authority (PDA) to conduct a fresh inspection of illegal structures on Vainguinim Beach.
Both are required to submit their independent reports on July 30.
The Division Bench issued the direction in the petition that has challenged the constructions carried out by Fomento Resorts and Hotels Ltd at Vainguinim.
The petitioners Colin Curry and others had complained that the starred hotel had carried out illegal construction in violation of the CRZ notification of 1991.
The Division Bench comprising Justice B P Dharmadhikari and Justice U D Salvi said a fresh inspection of disputed sites needs to be done to clear doubts about the structures.
The Division Bench has asked Panchayat and PDA authorities to serve a 48 hour prior notice upon respondent hotel before conducting inspection of the site before fixing the hearing for July 30.
