PANJIM: The first six days of March have created a record of sorts for the State with temperature touching a high of above 37 degrees Celsius on all six days, creating unbearable discomfort to the people.
The Indian Meteorological Department recorded that temperatures began to rise after March 1 with temperature rising to a high since March 02.
The State also witnessed a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius which is one degree below normal.
According to the weather forecast, the expected high for March 7 is 37, while for March 8 the highest temperature is expected to touch 36 degrees Celsius.
According to the IMD the high temperatures, around seven degrees above normal was due to the easterlies and south easterlies that were arriving in Goa.
Easterlies are winds that blow from the East and owing to the fact that they blow over hot dry land, of the Indian peninsula into Goa, temperatures are soaring.
He said that the hot and dry conditions will continue for at least a couple of days before beginning to drop marginally.
