MAPUSA: Calangute residents have objected to permission granted to a hotel as paid quarantine centre by the North Goa District Magistrate.
The locals found around 15 Maharashtra registered vehicles outside the hotel at Tiwaiwado Calangute on Tuesday and in a letter to the District Magistrate, the residents complained that they are upset with the decision to permit the hotel as paid quarantine centre.

In the letter signed by 57 residents, they stated that the surrounding area of this particular hotel is a residential area and expressed fear that they may get infected with the coronavirus.
The residents complained that the hotel authorities have not complied with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and other health protocols.
They further stated in the letter that the people who are quarantined at the hotel have come down on two-wheelers instead of arriving in four-wheelers and that too without the permission of Goa and Maharashtra governments.
The residents alleged that the hotel staffers do not use masks, sanitizers and hand gloves and the people quarantined here have not been medically examined by the Candolim Primary Health Centre doctors.
They further charged that the people quarantined here have no quarantine stamps on their hands and are moving freely on the main road in Calangute.
