MAPUSA: Albert Developers Veterans got the better of Calangute Veterans 1-0 win to win the All Goa Veterans Soccer, organised by Saligao Sporting Club, played at Saligao ground, on Saturday.
Both the sides played their hearts out in front of the huge number of supporters.
The only goal of the match was scored in the 10th minute of play when Francis Colaco got hold of the ball outside the Calangute 18-yard box and fired a blistering right footer which had no answer from keeper Dominic D’Souza.
Stunned by the early set back the Calangute side piled on the pressure however Shailesh Miskin failed to score from close range and Bruno Coutinho saw his low shot being kept away by the diving keeper Chandrakant Naik.
The winners were richer by Rs 25,000 and a trophy while Calangute had to be content with Rs 20,000 and a trophy.
Chief guest Minister for Housing Jayesh Salgaonkar and guest of honour Reira Group of Companied MD Darryl Pereira in their speeches promised to give for Saligao village a better playing field at the earliest.
