PANJIM: Dunes Sports Club blanked Augustias Sporting Club 3-0 to enter the quarter-finals of Mc Dowell’s No. 1 Yaari Premier Cup, at Ozran ground, Vagator, on Thursday.
Dunes colts started in right earnest where they went into the breather leading by 2-0 margin. Silvester Dias put his team ahead in the 8th minute of play with a neat placement off a pass from Shashank Ashwekar.
Five minutes before the breather Bruno Fernandes dribbled a host of Augustias players and sent a through pass to Rosario Fernandes, who made no mistake to make it 2-0.
Augustias had a chance to reduce the margin but Mableshwar Harijan failed to score from handshaking distance.
Another glorious chance was squandered by Pundalik Naik on crossing over as his goal-bound shot was saved by Dunes keeper Lincon Fernandes. In the closing stages of the match, Shashank Ashwekar hammered the final nail into Augustias coffin to make it 3-0.
On Wednesday, Saligao Sporting Club defeated FC Siolim 3-2 to march into the quarter-finals.
