PANJIM: Sporting Clube de Goa were in the thick of things on transfer dead-line day and emerged bolstered by the signing of three fresh faces at the SCG headquarters in Panjim, on Saturday.
Sporting Clube has completed the signing of Nigerian midfielder Martins Ekwueme, while midfielder Roystan D’Souza and defender Chinta Chandrashekar have both joined from the now defunct Mumbai Tigers.
Martins who spent many years in the Polish top flight, last playing for Flota Swinoujscie, is set to replace Spanish midfielder Arturo Garcia, who recently picked up a serious knee injury during his heroics in the Federation Cup.
Chinta will be familiar to the Sporting Goa fans, having spent four fruitful seasons with the Goan outfit and was part of the team which lifted the Hutch Goa Professional League in 2006.
“I am pleased with the three quality new signings and I am grateful to the management, for ensuring our team stays competitive in the remaining half of the I-League,” stated a delighted Sporting Goa Coach Oscar Bruzon.
