PONDA: The residents of Ponda have demanded the urgent repairs of the pothole-ridden roads before Ganesh Chaturthi.
According to Vishal Fadte, just a few days are left for Chaturthi which will be celebrated on September 7, however, some of the main roads in Ponda town and also the internal roads in the villages are in bad shape which could lead to accidents.
He demanded that these roads be repaired immediately.
The residents complained that the pothole-ridden roads in the Ponda market, near the bus stand and at the petrol pump at Upper Bazaar cause traffic chaos and congestion as people come for shopping.
They claimed that the interior village roads too have developed massive potholes and demanded that the government take cognisance of the mess and repair the damaged roads before Chaturthi keeping public safety in mind.
The locals demanded the deployment of additional traffic police personnel after 6 pm to regulate traffic movement as the market witnesses a rush of consumers.
