MARGAO: Sporting Clube de Goa beat Betalbatim Sporting Club 4-3 via the tie-breaker to storm into the final of State Under-14 football tournament at Cansualim, Thursday. The score was 1-1 at full time.
Sporting Clube surged ahead when striker Wayne Pereira bulged the net in the 14th minute.
Betalbatim made efforts to cancel the lead but the rival defenders withstood the pressure. Sporting had a couple of scoring chances but their forwards were erratic after reaching the rival danger zone.
Betalbatim goalkeeper Clerance Furtado was rock solid under the bar and pulled off a couple of saves.
After resumption, Betalbatim did well to come back into the match and in the second half midfielder Princeston Rebello put them on equal terms with a left-footed drive.
In the tie-breaker, Dhiresh Chitti, Chandra Gupta and Aaron Gomes converted for Sporting while Rosario Rebello and Jonathan Viega scored for Betalbatim.
