MARGAO, SEPT 23
Teachers of Higher secondary schools are agitated over the non-implementation of Part B of VI Pay Commission by the state government in spite of repeated promises.
HISTAG President Girish Chodankar said “we have been struggling peacefully since 2007, every time the teachers met Chief Minister, we were only promised and sympathized, but nothing has come till date”.
He further said that the teachers are eagerly waiting for the last three years, but the government is delaying the matter under one pretext or other.
“Teachers of higher secondaries have been sufferers from all sides”, he said, adding that the government have been quick in implementing UGC scales to the College teachers by going out of way, but is hesitating to give the higher secondary teachers their dues. “With the same qualification, there is vast difference in the scale of college and higher secondary teachers”, Chodankar added.
Vowing to launch a peaceful agitation in support of their demands, Chodankar said the general body meeting of HISTAG has been called on September 26 at 10 am at People’s higher secondary school, Panjim to decide the future course of action.
He has urged HISTAG members to attend the meeting.
