MARGAO: After a successful exposure tour to Goa, Al Ethihad Sports Academy president Kamarudhin Arakkal has expressed his willingness to launch its branch in the State in 2016.
Speaking to Herald, Kamarudhin disclosed that their main purpose of establishing the football academy in 2012 was to find talent of Indian origin in the gulf and to build a team suitable for the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The academy has recruited top foreign coaches to provide maximum exposure to their trainees.
On an annual basis, Al Ethihad Sports Academy conducts foreign tours and this time it was in Goa.
They trained for around 20 days at the artificial turf outside the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda and also played some friendly matches against Churchill Brothers Sports Club’s under-19 and won by 1-0.
They then took on the under-18 team of Sporting Clube de Goa and won 3-1 while they were held by the Curtorim Gymkhana under-23 team in a 1-1 draw, on Friday.
