MARGAO: The Salcete Truck Owners Association President Franky Gomes has hit out at the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) and others involved in allowing trucks from Karnataka to get the transport business from the port instead of hiring local truck owners.

Gomes, was reacting to the recent fatal accident at the Varunapuri junction in Vasco. Gomes said the biggest issue is that the non-Goan drivers do not know the roads here the way Goan drivers of trucks know. He also said these drivers need to be tested for alcohol consumption and if they have genuine driving licenses or not.
