VASCO: A meeting called by Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Sumita Usgaokar to appoint Carnival committee ended without electing the Carnival committee members for 2014.
Councillor Nany D’Souza informed the members present for the meeting that she was told about the meeting to be held on Tuesday.
D’Souza said when she sought to know from Usgaokar the timing of the meeting, Usgaokar replied saying that the meeting is only for the Carnival committee members and not for anyone else.
When Herald sought to know why MMC has not issued any public notice about the appointment of the Carnival committee meeting and on what basis Usgaokar called the meeting, Usgaokar failed to reply.
Some members present sought to know why the same members are appointed every year and why opportunity was not given to other citizens of Vasco. However, they failed to get satisfactory reply from Usgaokar.
Other members present for the meeting urged Usgaokar to cancel the meeting and call separate meeting on Friday.
