PANJIM: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, ICAR-CCARI, conducted two-day training on Scientific Management of Dairy & National Milk Day at Vetal Mandir, Mopa, Pernem, recently.
The national milk day programme was chaired by E B Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, along with H R C Prabhu, programme Coordinator KVK, North Goa, Mopa Sarpanch Pallavi Raul, Dr Chetan Kumar (scientist, animal science), Dr Gayatridas Gaonkar (veterinary officer), Pernem and Dr Sanjaykumar Udharwar.
The programme was attended by farmers and students of Government School, Mopa.
Dr E B Chakurkar addressed the gathering and spoke on the importance of celebration of National Milk day. He advised the people to drink one glass of milk daily for overall body and mental growth of children.
Prabhu in his address briefed the objectives of the programme.
Dr Chethankumar gave a lecture on importance of deworming in dairy animals. Dr Gayatridas Gaonkar spoke on various schemes and subsidies of Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services.
Dr Chakurkar distributed prizes to the winners of essay competition conducted on importance of milk in human nutrition and cooking competition on milk products arranged for the Self Help Groups.
Dr Sanjaykumar Udhwarwar gave theoretical and practical lectures on various aspects of scientific dairy farming like scientific housing, nutrition and reproduction of dairy animals, selection of animals.
