SAO JOSE DE AREAL: Rossman Cruz, Nagoa-Verna got the better of Navelim SC 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 37th Sao Jose de Areal Panchyat Cup organised by Sao Jose de Areal SC, at Padribhat Sao Jose de Areal ground, on Tuesday.
In the third minute, Rossman’s Frazier D’Costa’s long ranger hit the Navelim cross bar and went out of play.
Six minutes later, Navelim’s Aulon Gomes took a curling shot but missed the Rossman target by whiskers.
It was Joevin Costa who opened the account for Navelim with a snap shot in the 15th minute off Climax Lawrence’s assist.
As the match progressed in the second half, Rossman Cruz netted two quick goals which came from the boots of Myron Fernandes and Frazier D’Costa in the 47th and 51st minute respectively.
Rossman Cruz, Nagoa-Verna will now meet the winner of Nuvem SC and Fr Agnel YC, Paroda in the quarter-finals on October 1.
