MARGAO: The feast of Infant Jesus was celebrated with great solemnity yesterday however plastic waste and other dirt was what greeted people around the church in morning and the same continued the whole day.
A local resident Thomas Rodrigues lamented that this is the same story every year after the feast is celebrated. “The panchayat and the church collect money from the stall owners at the fair but why they did not take the trouble to clean up the place remains a question,” he said.
However, Colva Sarpanch Antonio Leao Fernandes assured that the place will be cleaned on Saturday and said that labourers are already engaged in doing the work.
