Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) is now eyeing to utilise its non performing assets like land to spruce up its revenue.
The Corporation has decided to lease its high valued lands across the State to improve its financial health.
“There are many lands which are acquired by KTCL and are lying idle. We have decided to lease out these lands to big builders for the construction of molls, hotels and for other purpose,” KTCL chairman Deepak Dhavalikar said.
He feels that these amenities will help KTCL in earning revenue thus improving the financial situation.
“Among various others, this is one of the options from where the Corporation can fetch revenue,” Dhavalikar said.
The Corporation is been under financial mess and with the implementation of sixth pay commission, the situation has worsened. The Corporation has been planning to adopt various measures to increase revenue by controlling their spending.
After much struggle, KTCL witnessed 10 per cent increase in their revenue for the month of May 2010.
Meanwhile, the KTCL is also planning to restore some of its major bus stands along with development of new RTO and KTCL buildings across the State.
The development work of the bus stands at Margao (Rs 1.5 crore), Mapusa (Rs 1 crore), Ponda (Rs 1.5 crore) and Marcel (Rs 50 lakh) will be done on priority.
Dhavalikar confirmed that the Corporation has already acquired lands in Panjim, Vasco and Curchorim for setting up new buildings.
“We are also planning to purchase lands at Ponda, Valpoi and Shiroda,” he said.
Recently, KTCL had planned to provide ticket vending machines to their conductors along with launching of inter-state online ticketing facility to the public.
The chairman feels that this will control duplications of tickets, which leads to loss of revenue.
