Bagyadar panel sweeps elections

MARGAO, SEPT 20 The Adarsh Bagyadar Panel headed by BJP leader Sunil Desai has swept the polls held for the Goa state Agricultural Marketing Board, Margao. Of the eight seats at stake, Desai said the Adarsh Panel which had fought against the government's attempts to sabotage the poll, has won all the seats.

The Adarsh Bagyadar Panel headed by BJP leader Sunil Desai has swept the polls held for the Goa state Agricultural Marketing Board, Margao.
Of the eight seats at stake,  Desai said the Adarsh Panel which had fought against the government’s attempts to sabotage the poll, has won all the seats.
Besides Sunil, others who were elected were Prabhu Vikas Vishwanath, Desai Rajesh Kalidas, Bhave Shridhar Shripad, Kathane Hemant Durgaram, Samant Prasad Dattaram, Velip Laxman Govind and Sawaikar Ganapat Pandurang.
Three members, including two women members and one members from the Traders Community, were elected unopposed.
Briefing newsmen after the declaration of results, Sunil said the government tried to sabotage the polls from day one. “The elections of all the eight members of Adarsh panel with thumping majority is a befitting reply to the government’s attempts to sabotage the polls”, he said.
Replying to a question, he said the Adarsh Panel tried to secure the interest of farmers, while the government had only vested interest. “We fought against all odds and won the polls with a thumping majority”, he added
Sunil said that the Adarsh Panel will ensure that mining does not continue at the cost of agriculture.
