PONDA: The residents in Ponda have demanded relaxation of lockdown to repair the houses in view of the coming monsoon.
The locals say that since the labourers are also under lockdown at shelter homes, they would not be able to get them to repair their houses.

Anita Naik, a Ponda resident, expressed worry that she would not be able to repair her house before the rains due to the lockdown.
She fears that labourers would not be readily available even after the lifting of the lockdown, as there would be a heavy demand for them then.
People who are reconstructing their houses by borrowing loans are also worried that if the work is not completed on time, materials like cement would get wasted in the rains.
Therefore, the people have demanded relaxation of the lockdown for carrying out repairs and reconstruction of houses before the rains.
