MARGAO: Fish vendors were out in the SGPDA market on Wednesday though the retail market remained closed and prawns, mackerels were on sale at reasonable prices of Rs 200 for six mackerels and Rs 300 per portion of fish.
While earlier there were two vendors selling fish in the open space behind the dry fish retail market, on Tuesday there were three. However, on Wednesday there were nine of them selling fish in this space. Besides, two had set up shop on the footpath by the side of the retail fish market.

The New Market had quite a number of the provision stores doing business today and probably that was the reason why two gates to this market were open.
Margao Municipal Council today launched a drive against the road side vendors and cleared all the vendors along the road leading to Navelim where people were selling vegetables, fruits and even dry fish.
However, local vegetable vendors were seen selling their vegetables along the road leading to Pimpaklkatta and they were not asked to stop their sale. Similarly the migrant selling mangoes on Abade Faria Road continued with his business with no worry.
