PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Thursday refused stay the order directing the suspension of Goa Dairy Managing Director Dr N C Sawanth by Registrar of Cooperative Societies in the alleged irregularities case.
Admitting the petitions of Sawanth and other suspended directors, the HC also directed the Registrar of Cooperative Societies to hand over seized documents to the administrator Damodar Moraskar to complete the enquiry expeditiously.
Moraskar, on Thursday, took charge as the Goa Dairy administrator in the absence of the board. “The matter was on for the last three days. The Court while admitting the petitions of Dr N C Sawant and other suspended directors also directed the administrator to expedite enquiry process. The Court refused interim relief to Sawanth,” government lawyer Pravin Faldessai said. Sawanth had approached the HC on Monday pleading to set aside the Registrar’s order directing the administrator to suspend him.
The Goa Dairy board was dissolved on August 31 by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies. The dissolution was on the ground of mismanagement and irregularities, said the order issued by the Registrar of Co-op Societies Sanjiv Gadkar. The Registrar had also ordered an inquiry against the Asst Registrar of Co-operative Society of Ponda Zone.
