At Chicalim, along the main road from Vasco to Cortalim, there exists an internal road connecting it to this highway. Vehicles going towards Cortalim are expected to follow the sign-board and go round the road divider in order to enter this internal road. However, almost all vehicles are seen taking the short-cut and entering this internal road by going on the wrong side of the highway, which is meant for one-way traffic, for a distance of about hundred metres before entering this side road. This can lead to accidents as vehicles coming to Vasco city along the highway could be moving at a high speed.
In the photo the blue truck is seen not following the diversion but taking the highway from the wrong side to enter the internal road while the tanker is seen moving towards Vasco along the highway. Steps need to be taken to see that vehicles are not able to go on to the wrong side of the highway to enter this side road as it can lead to accidents.
What seems necessary is putting up of a small traffic island at the junction so that vehicles can take a turn to enter the internal road.
