The private bus operators have said that they will petition High Court if state government attempt to nationalize more routes.
All Goa Private Bus Owners Association, general secretary Sudip Tamankar today said that they are all set to move to High Court if more routes are nationalize.
“Earlier, the government had nationalized routes claiming that it will increase the revenue of Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTCL), but unfortunately it is still running under loss after several years of nationalization,” Tamankar said during a press briefing, this morning.
“So what’s the point in nationalizing more routes? He questioned.
The KTCL is already running its 70-odd buses on three nationalized routes-Panaji-Margao, Margao-Panjim and Panaji-Vasco.
The state government is giving thought to nationalizing more routes to bring the corporation into profit.
“If government really wants to fill their coffers then let us run Kadamba buses on these routes. We will bring them into profit…we will control and manage,” he said.
The bus owners have always been alleging of being harassed by KTCL and government.
Tamankar has also threatened to knock the doors of the High Court if the transport and vigilance department does not take appropriate step in Assistant Director Pralhad Dessai and then transport minister Pandurang Madkaiokar matters within 15 days.
Tamankar has recently filed a complaint with the directorate of vigilance against Desai for seeking bribe of Rs 80,000 for the renewal of the bus permit.
He has also demanded inquiry in the high security registration plates (HSRP) tender process awarded to Shimnit Utsch. In the complaint, Tamankar has pointed out various irregularities conducted by Madkaikar in awarding the tender to the said company.
