CANACONA: Mashem Cricket Club beat Bannerman Margao by 58 runs in 31st Nanda Lolayekar Trophy cricket organized by Mashem Cricket Club at Nirakar Maidan Dapot-Mashem.
Mashem won the toss and elected to bat. Due to a quickfire 57 with eight boundaries and two sixes from Santosh Satarkar, Mashem scored 85 in the first eight overs. A patient 50 from Gunjal Desai and a strokeful 81 from Sachin Naik (11×4, 3×6) enabled Mashem to amass 255 in 35 overs for just five wickets. Saurav Shetgaokar, the upcoming off-spinner was the only bowler ,containing the Mashem batsmen with 2/33.
In reply, Bannerman could score only 197 runs as their wickets fell at regular intervals. Their first three batsmen were run-out when the score was just 45. Yash Patil 47 n.o. and Zaheer Sadekar 32 were the only batsmen to show some resistance against the accurate bowling of Mashem. Santosh Satarkar was the pick of the bowlers with 2/32.
