VASCO: Naval divers recovered the body of drowned person at Dudhsagar Waterfall on Tuesday.
In response to a request from Collector and District Magistrate Office, South Goa District, a team of six Indian Navy divers from Goa Naval Area were expeditiously deployed on the night of September 16 and 17 to conduct search operation for a boy, who drowned at Dudhsagar Waterfall in Dharbandora Taluka.
As per the information provided by the naval officer, the divers carried out a survey of the site along with the local police. Using an inflatable craft, out board motor, diving equipment and accessories, the team searched untill midnight.
“The increased flow of the waterfall and steep rocky slopes compounded the risk and difficulty of the search team. Resuming the next morning, the team searched for almost five hours before they were able to locate the body of the deceased near a tree root in the river bed. The body was later fished out by the naval divers,” a source added.
When contacted Collem Police Station, Police Inspector Prajyot Fadte said that the deceased person named Shrishail Chauhan aged 38, was a railways employee and was working as an engine mechanic.
“He was a native of Gadak, Karnataka and the reason behind his alleged suicide is unknown and police are investigating the matter under my supervision,” PI Fadte informed.
