Amid concerns raised by opposition legislators regarding the selection of questions during the Assembly session, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar clarified that the process is conducted impartially through a lottery system and does not favour any political party.
Speaking in response to allegations of bias, Tawadkar said, “Questions for discussion in the Assembly session are decided by drawing lots. Since the ruling MLAs are greater in number, there’s a possibility that more of their questions get selected, but that’s a natural outcome of the process — not manipulation.”

He further emphasized that he views all MLAs equally, regardless of their political affiliation. “For me, every MLA is an MLA — be it from the ruling or opposition benches. I can’t differentiate or be partial,” the Speaker stated.
The clarification comes after opposition MLAs expressed concern that their queries, especially on critical issues, were being sidelined. Tawadkar reiterated his commitment to upholding the democratic process and ensuring equal opportunity for all legislators to raise matters of public interest.
