PM Surya Ghar Yojana to Be Rolled Out Across Goa Panchayats Through Awareness Camps

In a major move to promote the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and Goa’s Muft Bijli Yojana, Union Minister Shripad Naik, with the support of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, has initiated a statewide awareness campaign. A workshop was recently conducted to brief Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, and Zilla Panchayat (ZP) members on the rollout of the schemes.

Highlighting the importance of public participation, CM Sawant announced that camps will be held in every panchayat to ensure maximum outreach and benefit for Goan households. “Most people should benefit from this scheme, which is why we’re taking it to the grassroots through panchayat camps,” said Sawant.

Panchayats have been instructed to coordinate with their respective MLAs to learn the dates of the camps, while all Ministers and MLAs are advised to stay in contact with the Director of GEDA (Goa Energy Development Agency) to streamline the implementation process.

The initiative aims to promote solar energy adoption, reduce household electricity costs, and support the government’s vision for sustainable and clean energy. With these joint central and state efforts, the government is pushing for widespread adoption of rooftop solar systems and ensuring that the benefits of free and subsidised electricity reach every eligible household in Goa.
