PANJIM: BAFF huffed and puffed before they finally registered a hard fought 1-0 win over Kelbai Sports Club in the GFA’s Third Division League match played in the newly inaugurated Bicholim ground, on Wednesday.
It was the first time an MLA witnessed a third division match, and it was the local MLA
Rajesh Patnekar, who was introduced to the players before the start, at the newly renovated ground.
In an absorbing match it was the local side BAFF’s Samir Sheikh who scored with a 25-yard shot which crashed into the back of the Kelbai nylons, 1-0.
At Duler Stadium, Mapusa, St Sebastiao SC registered a resounding 5-1 win over Augustias SC.
Lakshak Gawas netted a hat-trick while Shane Rebello scored a brace for the winners. Akshay Shirodkar scored for the losing side.
In another match at artificial turf ground, Sporting Club of Davorlim beat Enfermos SC 1-0.
There was no score in the first half. Joel Miranda scored the match-winner in the 75th minute.
Meanwhile St Anthony SC Colva thumped UB Dando Colva 4-1.
The teams were tied 1-1 at the break. Clifford Fernandes scored a brace while Joyson Tavares and Joel Tavares were the other scorers. Menoy Rodrigues scored the consolation for the UB Dando.
Tilamol United SC eased past Fr Agnel YSC Paroda 2-0. Diego Olievera and Aleston Carvalho scored in the 50th and 81st minutes respectively.
Arlem YA and Our Lady of Gloria SC played out a 1-1 draw at Raia ground. Shawn Nornonha scored a 48th minute equaliser before Joe Pango handed Arlem an early first half lead.
Meanwhile, Saligao United scored a massive 6-1 win over Adarsh Yuvak Sangh. Alister Fernandes and Raj Jadhay netted a brace each for the winners. Trevor Dias and Melwyn Fernandes were the other goal scorers. A Chopdekar reduced the margin for Adarsh.
At Chapora ground, Siolim Sodiem beat ABC Arambol 4-1.
