Fairs, meets, lead to traffic jams in Panjim

The Dayanand Bandodkar Marg stretch from Kala Academy, to the Fire brigade junction witnessed heavy traffic jams during the weekend due to several exhibition, fairs, festival and conferences.
Traffic was blocked during the peak hours in the evening with the people wanting to visit the fairs and exhibitions.
A three-day conference of Indian Dairy Association is underway at the Kala Academy apart from another exhibition in the Kala Academy premises.
At Panjim Gymkhana the annual Saraswat Food Festival, which is normally organized at BPS Club, Margao, is being held in Campal for the first time. Apart from this some fair is also put up at the Parade grounds.
He said that the handful of traffic personnel deployed there are unable to control the traffic. It is also learnt that a 108 Ambulance carrying a patient was also stranded in the traffic. Efforts to contact SP Traffic Arvind Gawas proved futile.
