Truck driver gets 5-day custody

PONDA: The truck driver from Punjab, charged with murder in connection with the death of a Ponda traffic police, has been remanded to five days in police custody.

PONDA: The truck driver from Punjab, charged with murder in connection with the death of a Ponda traffic police, has been remanded to five days in police custody.
According to Ponda Police, Gomes noticed the truck (PB-13-Q-6115) proceeding on the road and signalled the driver to stop the vehicle. The truck driver, however, did not stop and sped towards Borim.
PSI Gomes chased the truck and after over a kilometre chase, PSI Gomes managed to overtake the truck. However, the truck driver did not stop and reportedly dragged PSI Gomes along with the motorcycle to a distance of nearly 20 metres.
The driver then abandoned the truck and fled from the site.
Police informed that the truck was not carrying anything suspicious but some raw material to a bottling company at Margao.
The accused charged with murder has been remanded to five days police custody and police is investigating the case.
