PONDA: The victims of gold ornament burglary that occurred at Khandepar, have accused the police of going slow in arresting the accused despite there being an eye witness who has identified the alleged offender by his name.
Addressing a press conference in Ponda on Tuesday, Sanjay Naik and his wife Anitha Naik said that their house was broken open and gold ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh were burgled on May 2. The burglary was witnessed by a local who has identified the burglar by his name, the husband and wife duo said adding, that in their complaint to the police they had also named the alleged burglar.
However, police have not arrested the accused and are going slow in investigating the case, they said.
Meanwhile, DySP Sunita Sawant has assured to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, the locals allege that police are deliberately not registering theft cases so as to show that crimes rate is low in Ponda.
