The court has asked the hutment dwellers to produce documentary evidence before the competent authority by June 23 to prove they are living in the same place prior to 1995.
The Collector on April 7, 2015, through the office of Mormugao Deputy Collector had issued eviction notices to 204 huts and the Mamlatdar had issued demolition notices.
Acting upon the notices the Baina Residents Welfare Association and other residents approached the High Court against the eviction and demolition order issued under the Goa Land Prohibition and Construction Act, 1995.
On April 15 the High Court had given interim relief to the residents by maintaining status quo in the matter and later the court heard the plea. In April, the government had already demolished 84 houses from Baina which had encroached on the proposed highway land of the NHAI.
